Excerpt from The Soul of a Christian: A Study in the Religious Experience
The reader who finds the opening chapters somewhat hard to follow, is advised to postpone them and to begin with the fourth chapter, in which the different forms of mansion are dis cussed and to proceed from that point to the end. He will then be better placed for the somewhat unfamiliar considerations with which, in the first three chapters, I have tried to plumb some of the soul's recesses. Truth is not all on the surface even in religion.
